World Mental Health Day 2022

World Mental Health Day aims to raise awareness of mental health around the world and to improve wellbeing.

Mental ill-health impacts up to 1 in 5 individuals in Australia. Good mental health is when we can cope with the daily stressors of our daily lives, engage in kinds and loving relationships, contribute to our community and work towards our goals. The theme of World Mental Health Day 2022 is “look after you mental health Australia” with a focus on awareness, connection and belonging.

Positive mental health is about awareness, connection and belonging. This years theme is about engaging in what’s important to you, living in the present moment and staying connected to meaningful relationships with family, friends and community.

As part of this years World Mental Health Day, Calm Life Psychology donated a free coffee to individuals within the community to promote taking some time out to look after their mental health. This also supported Calm Life Psychology’s vision to promote mental health and wellbeing at a community level. This initiative was well received in the community with many smiles and gratitude to celebrate and promote wellbeing. Thanks to The Storehouse Mt Evelyn for supporting such an important cause and always having such a friendly smile to help us feel that community belonging.

World Mental Health Day is about making a promise to engage in something that will actively promote your own wellbeing. Making a mental health promise is a great way to remind yourself to look after your own wellbeing. Some examples of a mental health promise include: “get an early night”, “stay hydrated”, “call a family or friend today” or “make exercise a part of my routine”.

Calm Life Psychology’s mental health promise is to share mental health tips for the month of October. This is important to us as it is a way of giving back at a community level to promote positive mental health and wellbeing. Psychologist Stefany Klein’s mental health promise it to: spend more time with family and friends.
